Encompass Blog: POST-PRODUCTION UPDATE 1: NEW PROMO IMAGES, BEHIND-THE-SCENES AND WHEN TO EXPECT THE FIRST TRAILER

Hi everyone, Jonathan here. I am the producer of Stormin' Norman, and also served on the film crew as second assistant director. It's been a while so I thought I'd give a quick update on the film!

Stormin' Norman is making great progress. Composer Alex has been fleshing out score ideas with Paul and myself - if it's anything compared to his acclaimed score for What It Feels Like we're in for a treat. Alex has actually been to visit East Ham (one of the filming locations) this week for inspiration - he's expressed a desire to experiment with this score...so expect the unexpected!

Writer and director Paul is currently working with our editor Simon Massey on a first cut of the film. I've seen snippets of the raw footage and I think we've got something special, with its own unique charm. Part of the reason we chose the film was that it seemed to be doing something brave - not just in terms of subject matter, but in terms of where the script was heading even at its earliest stages. I think people will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm very excited for this project - when I founded Encompass two years ago as its artistic director I had always stated that we were a production company. This is because the term didn't limit us to just creating theatre or a specific type of art - instead it (along with our name and manifesto) reflected a commitment to creating bold new works in whatever form possible. I am a big fan of cinema and it influences me greatly - I had always wanted to attempt to make a film, it was just waiting for the right time and project. With luck Stormin' Norman will be the first Encompass film of many.
